Back To School Campaign

TOGETHER WE COPE (TWC)needs your Back to School support. TWC is preparing its annual Back-to-School program and is seeking donations of school supplies. Last year, TWC helped 996 needy youngsters. The need this year could be as high as 1700 students needing supplies. Lutheran Church of the Resurrection will be collecting school supplies for the first two weeks in August. A box will be in the narthex to collect school supplies. Your help in filling this box will be appreciated -- pens, pencils, paper, folders, glue, glue sticks, binders, etc.

Vitamin Drive

Supporting Hearts in Motion (H.I.M.)

During August, Social Concerns is sponsoring a Vitamin Drive. Because of the conditions in these countries, multi-vitamins are needed to rebuild the strength of people in Guatemala and Honduras who have been treated for parasites by medical volunteers that H.I.M. takes there. Once someone is treated by a doctor, they are treated with a regimen of vitamins for 6 - 8 weeks.

A container will be placed in the narthex to collect vitamins as well as any left-over vitamins, prescription pills, and other Over-the-Counter Medications. Hearts in Motion sorts the used medicines before sending them on to Guatemala or Honduras.

Eyeglasses Needed!

Throughout the remainder of the year Social Concerns will also be collecting various items for H.I.M. Bring old eyeglasses and sunglasses to church. A box will be in the church office for this collection.
