The Rev. Mary Appelt-Graves

I am privileged to serve as the Pastor here at Resurrection. The role of Pastor is to be the spiritual leader, teacher, and guide for the members of the congregation as well as the interpreter of Lutheran theology for mission and service. 

​

As Pastor, I work alongside creative & gifted members of the faith community to lead worship, teach the way of Jesus, work with our preschool & children’s faith development, empower people to serve others and the community with love & understanding, and to be available to care for our members & homebound in times of special need.

I am a life-long Chicagoan, growing up in the best decades of rock & roll, racial justice protests, women’s liberation, and liturgical renewal in the church.  Before ordination as a Pastor, I served as a Music Therapist for seniors, and I was a fundraiser and volunteer director for agencies that serve runaway & homeless children, refugee & immigrant resettlement, and protection & healing of survivors of torture.

I am a widow, mother of fur-babies, and love to travel and learn about cultures & languages.  I prefer she/her/hers for my pronouns.
