Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Oak Forest is proud to be able to host the traditional Hispanic celebration of Las Posadas on Dec. 18th from 4pm to 7pm.  This tradition usually takes place for 9 days leading up to Christmas; we will gather once on the Saturday before Christmas.

Las Posadas commemorates the journey that Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge where Mary could give birth to the baby Jesus. We, too, will travel the streets of Oak Forest with Mary & Joseph and their donkey, singing all the way, in search of a place that will welcome them.

Join the band of pilgrims, as they knock on door after door, looking to find a place. Finally, we will come to a place where someone will give them "Posada" (housing at a hostel or an inn), which is a cause for celebration!

And the fiesta begins with music from the famous Mariachi band – Cielito Lindo – as seen on ABC-TV. Food, drink, dancing and, of course, the breaking of the pinata are part of the celebration!

Kids are encouraged to participate in the fun and the singing. Everyone is welcome!

THIS EVENT IS FREE (donations welcomed) AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Masking indoors is required.
